The UN at a Glance
The united nations organisation
The United Nations (UN), international organization set up on July 24, 1945. The UN was the second multipurpose overseas organization established in the 20th century that's worldwide in scope and membership. Its predecessor, this League associated with Nations, appeared by this Treaty associated with Versailles in 1919 and disbanded in 1946. Headquartered in New York City, the UN also has offices in Geneva, Vienna, and other cities. Its official languages are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.

Structure
The actual Charter recognized six key bodies in the United Nations Organization: The Assembly, the Security Council, the Financial and Social Council, the Trusteeship Council, The Worldwide Court of Justice plus the Secretariat.

The Purposes of the United Nations are

1. To maintain international peace and security.

2. To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace.

3. To achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character, and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language, or religion.

4. To be a center for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.

General Assembly

The general Assembly is the main deliberative assembly from the United Nations. Composed of all United Nations member states, the assembly meets in regular annually sessions, but emergency sessions can be called. The assembly can be led with a president, elected from one of several member states with a rotating local basis, as well as 21 vice-presidents.The initial session was convened on 10 January 1946 in the Methodist Central Hall Westminster in London and included representatives of 51 nations.

Security Council

The actual Security Council is charged with maintaining peace and security among countries. While other organs of the United Nations can merely make "recommendations" to be able to member states, the Security Council contains the power to make binding judgements that fellow member states get agreed to execute, under this terms associated with Charter Article 25. The decisions of the Council are called United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The Security Council is made up of 15 member states, composing of 5 permanent memberChina, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. and 10 non-permanent member. The all 5 permanent member hold veto power over UN resolutions, allowing the permanent fellow member to obstruct adoption of the resolution, though not discussion. The 10 temporary seats are held for two-years terms, with fellow member states voted in from the General Assembly with a regional schedule. The presidency on the Security Council rotates alphabetically each month.

What is veto power - The power of a president or governor to reject a bill proposed by a legislature by refusing to sign it into law.

Established in 1945 through the UN Charter, the Court began work in 1946 as the successor to the Permanent Court of International Justice. The International Court of Justice is composed of 15 judges who serve 9-year terms and are appointed by the General Assembly every sitting judge must be from a different nation.

The World Trade Organization (WTO)

The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only global organization working with the world wide rules of trade between nations. Its major function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably along with freely as possible.
This WTO’s creation on 1 January 1995 marked the most important reform of international trade since after the Second World War. In addition, it brought to be able to reality — in a updated kind — the failed attempt in 1948 to produce an Global Trade Organization.

Principles of the trading system
The WTO contracts are extensive and complex as they are legal texts covering a wide range of activities. They deal with: agriculture, textiles and clothing, banking, telecommunications, government purchases, industrial standards and product safety, food sanitation regulations, intellectual property, and much more. But a number of simple, fundamental rules run throughout all of these documents. These principles would be the foundation with the multilateral dealing system.
