If the incident results in the death of a person, the jail term can extend up to seven years, or the fine can increase to Rs. 10,000, or both. In such cases, the driver must also pay an amount of compensation to the victim's family. These punishments are meant to deter people from engaging in such dangerous and irresponsible behavior.
